Drambuie liqueur has sponsored the Austin Silent Disco to invade Four Sisters Ranch in the wee hours after Utopiafest 2012!
What is a silent disco you ask? Well allow me to enlighten and entice; Austin Silent Disco is a late-night, after-party phenomenon that actually exists all over the U.S. Lets say you are at a venue, club, or in this case a music festival, and you don’t want to go home after all the bands have played and the live musicians are putting on their pj’s and getting ready for bed. Silent disco offers a solution, simply hang around after the show, turn in your ID and receive a pair of headphones and rock out in noiseless style with others who are listening to the same music you are, just with headphones instead of naked ears!!
For the true night-owls, who need to burn the late night oil until it’s all gone, silent disco offers a safe, albeit quiet place to get your ya ya’s out until you can’t any more. The listening selection for Utopiafest 2012 silent disco is Henry + The Invisibles, the self described “onemanphunkband.”
No live bands or loud music over the PA, means no city sound violations, which means no time limit on the party. Who doesn’t want that? A big thank you to Drambuie Liqueur for sponsoring this most excellent event, and allowing us Utopiafest-goers a little extra time to cut another rug, to get that phone number you’ve been working on all night, or just to give you a perfect excuse not to go home.
Attention Utopiafest fans!! There is also a pre-Fest-party sponsored by KTSW 89.9, tomorrow (Aug. 16) at the Triple Crown. The party starts at 9 p.m. and features music from Hard Proof Afrobeat, Digital Antique and Sour Bridges, who will all be performing at this year’s Utopiafest.
